New to a TN spring....I'm from So CA and I planted Ferns in the ground of my yard there and they grew big and beautiful. I mentioned it to someone here in TN that I would like to do the same and they didn't suggest it, but gave no reason why??? Anyone know why it doesn't work here

I don't know why someone would say not too. I have beautiful ferns at my house- big and lush. My favorite is the Ghost fern... beautiful! I'd say go for it.

You should be fine as long as you pick ferns that are hardy. Ferns are certainly very common here. I would imagine that there are some ferns that will grow in So Cal that won't survive winters here.
