| Received this e-mail from Parci who spoke at the Plant Swap. Great way to get water barrels for $35 each.
The Water Quality Forum Is Sponsoring Rain Barrel Workshops Pre-registration for the workshops starts June 2nd.
The first 35 people that sign up will be able to participate. The cost of the workshop is $35.00 per barrel made.
To register, contact Parci Gibson at parci.gibson@knoxcounty.org or 865-215-5861. Parci will take the first 35 registrants for each class. Please let her know how many barrels you want to make and which workshop you plan to attend. Please include your name and contact information (Name, phone number and e-mail address) if leaving a message or e-mailing her. Due to the high demand for these workshops, you MUST pre-register. Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins for the workshops. You will be notified if you secure a spot at the workshop.
Every participant will take home a completed barrel after the workshop. We will also be discussing other techniques you can use in your yard to conserve water and reduce stormwater runoff pollution.
Dates of the workshops:
June 14th from 10:00am-12:00noon at New Harvest Park July 8th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Ijams Nature Center July 31st from 6:00pm-8:00pm (place to be determined)

Follow-Up Postings:

| Get in on this!!! that is a great price for a finished barrel and the knowledge to make more. I've been talking to Assistant D.A. Siemer (from Shelby County Environmental Court) about getting just such a program started in Memphis/Shelby Co. . |
|
| ?Environmental Court? Sandsquid, you've just got to explain that. |
|
| That is where all the littering, illegal dumping, failure to maintain your lawn, applying pesticides without licenses, having junk cars in your yard, etc. etc. go. |
Here is a link that might be useful: SHELBY COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL COURT
|
| Did anyone go to the first rain barrel workshop? What size barrels did you make? |
