Homeowner's Field Day this weekend!

For those of you in or close to Nashville, don't forget: This Saturday is Homeowner's Field at Ellington Agricultural Center. It's from 9-3 and there will be lectures on various subjects. The Master Gardeners have been working hard getting the gardens all pretty.

Some of the more unique things I'm looking forward to are seeing the mushroom garden (I have a LOT of mushroom questions for their expert!) and I think they are going to have a "roof garden" with lots of sedums that sounds like it will be cool.

I am most looking forward to the plant sale, of course. :)

If any of you go and see me, please come say hi! Here's how to find me: I have blonde hair and will be wearing a bright blue tie-dye tank top. Or just yell something like "FREE DARK PURPLE PERENNIALS!" and I'll appear pretty quickly. LOL

Thanks for posting this info. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. I went this morning and was so impressed with the display gardens! I also picked up a few plants. I'm going to have to get myself out more to these type of activities!

Their display gardens looked AWESOME! Totally different from how it looked over there a month ago. I was blown away with all they have done. They have worked really, really hard.

I was there but my blue tie-dye shirts were not clean, so I was wearing a white t-shirt. Oops! :P

I scored a couple of new plants too. I got a [rare] Yellow Scabiosa, a Lemon Yellow Helianthus (perennial sunflower) and, my favorite, a bronze fennel! I have the fennel in a pot for the summer...it has a taproot, and I'm not 100% sure where I want it, so I'm going to have to nurse it through the summer until I figure it out.

It was really fun! Glad you made it! Evelyn, did you make it too? I didn't see you. I was there from about 10-12.
