Looks like we are tomatilloless. Next year plant at least three. That way, if one dies, you still have a pair. If you are planting in pots, you could still plant more than one per pot. I often plant two or three plants (that need more than one plant for pollination) together in pots just as if they were multistemmed single plants. You could do two pots of two of these for instance.

I ended up contacting the acquaintance who gave me the first tomatillo. He had me come pick up a branch from another of his tomatillo plants. I stuck that branch in the pot, and overnight it appears to have grown roots - you'd never know that it hadn't been growing there for weeks from looking at it.
