Wind damaged Rose of Sharon

l1nda

I have two Rose of Sharon bushes - 8 to 10 ft tall. We had a storm last night with high winds. The wind made the branches bend over so they almost touch the ground. I tried to straighten each branch so they would stand up and they just droop over again. I had this type of bush at my other house and would trim them right down to the ground every couple years and they came back beautifully. Should I cut these bushes at this time of year? They don't look like they are going to stand up again. Thanks for any help! Linda
