Gardening Classes

Is anyone aware of gardening classes in the Knoxville area besides the UT classes? There is a wonderful farm in CA, Love Apple Farm, with classes on planting, irrigation, chickens, beekeeping. Does anyone know of a place like that here? TIA for any help.

This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but many of the classes at Bloomsday are really really good. I think the classes will be listed at the website below sometime soon.

The TN Department of Agriculture sponsors a lot of programs like this. Hobby/Master Beekeepers, Master Gardeners, etc...They are in cooperation with UT Ag Extension. I'm sure they have a field office in Knox County. If that's not what you're looking for, it might be worth a call to them to see if there are local farmers in your area that offer classes. Knoxville Permaculture Society often lists any classes in the area for things like that. They have some on mushroom growing, etc. Don't seem to be a lot right now.

I got this in an email this morning:

Free Hypertufa class June 13; 9 am. There will be no charge to watch. I will mold one then; I will also remove one from a mold.

If you chose to make one the charge will be $25. If you make one you will have to come back here to remove it from the mold on June 14; 2 pm.

If you chose to make one you need to contact me so I can have the materials ready.

If you make one you will need to have work clothes and shoes; eye protection; dust mask; rubber and cotton gloves; a long handle wire brush for the finish.

I will supply all materials needed. If there is a shape, size or something special you want to make contact me ahead of time. I will also supply molds.
