Encore Azalea Problems

This is my other problem child. I planted several Encore Azaleas 1-1/2 years ago. It is a bed with drainage problems, but again I add lots of compost. I have them on drip, 30 minutes every 2-3 days in summer as weather get drier. I fertilize with Azalea food after blooming. They usually are light green and now have brown tips. They are in varying degrees of sun during the day including approx. 2-3 hours of afternoon sun. They will get droopy at times and then I try water.

Again, advise is much appreciated.

Poor drainage, amended soil, and drip irrigation sure sounds like a "toxic" combination for a plant that needs very very very good drainage. I'd try planting the azaleas on berms or in raised beds. Amendment can be OK when used in raised beds, but you still want to concentrate on providing good drainage and limiting drip irrigation.
