Call your home insurance agent and ask who he would recommend.
You do not want to take a chance with an uninsured service (and some may lie that they have insurance when they don't). Your homeowners' insurance won't protect you if their insurance is insufficient.

Jeff, I have a big black walnut tree in the front yard that's got to go. There's also a silver maple in back that I'd like to take down at some point, but that one is not as big a rush as the black walnut.

You could try Neilson Timber Specialists. I've seen their work and it looked fine to me -- I know the owner is a licensed arborist. Should be in the Nashville phone book.

I have offically put a moritorium on me getting on two-story ladders though. It has become painfully clear (literally and figurativly) that one-story is more than enough for me at my advanced age.
