Elephant Garlic sprouting in the Fall???

| I don't remember if I got this from Jeff or not (cuz I know he had some to give me). I got it from someone & planted in this pot in the Spring. Well, the tops of it died off & this pot has had some clover growing in it for the past 2 months or so, which I left in there cuz I thought i looked cool. =) I noticed this past weekend that 4-5 very healthy garlic looking sprouts had popped up from it! =) So, I yanked out the clover. Are these Elephant Garlic sprouts & if so, are they supposed to come up in the Fall? I've never grown garlic before, so I don't know. Any & all help appreciated. Thanks! - Steve

Their foliage comes out in cool weather. This year, like some of the daffodils, they may be putting foliage out a bit early (usually this occurs in February/March), but it won't really hurt them - they are quite vigorous and if their foliage dies out during winter, they will put new leaves out again next year. It is normal for the foliage to die back after blooming - they do that every year. Just cut off the stem when it starts looking ratty. The blossoms dry well and can be used in flower arrangements.

Cool, thanks April! =) By the way, my Zephrine Droughin Rose proagation goes well! I'm going to take an updated pic of them when I go home for lunch. Also, thanks for the Aloe! I'm going to pot it up sometime in the Spring to a wider, not deeper pot (which I hear is best from my recent research on it).

Yea, I know that now! Yay! =) I still have the 4-5 cloves april game me too. Can I toss them into spaces in between the others or is there already enough in the container? It's frickin huge...easily 2+ feet side-to-side...probably 25-30 gallons.

You can dump them in. They might get a wee bit crowded, later on, but it won't hurt them or anything.
