Rhubarb?

Is it to late to plant/transplant rhubarb in the Chattanooga area? If not where could I buy plants close to Hixson/ Soddy area?

I can't believe no one grows rhubarb in TN????

Sorry!

When I bought this house 20 years ago it had two rhubarb plants in the garden -- but by the time I moved in, somebody had stolen them!

I believe planting now would be fine if the plants were mulched this winter. See the UT Ag Ext Serv Publication linked below for mulching details.

I grow rhubarb at home and on my farm, but I don't transplant this time of year, so my answer is more of a semi-educated guess than fact.

Don't know where local Chattanooga sources are. I believe you could still order thru mail-order, but it may be getting late for that by the time the order is processed.

Why don't you ask on the Knoxville Plant Swap Forum if anyone has any they could bring to the swap? It's kind of a long shot, but there's a chance. Mine aren't big enough to divide yet or I'd bring some.
