The only elephant ears I take in are the black taro. (My green ones and the Illustrus come back pretty reliably.) I dig them up (about now), divide them up and repot them. After they have had a few days to recover a bit, I move them to my basement and let them go dormant. I may toss a little water in there every now and then, but not a lot. Come spring they are ready to go.

Pretty much the same routine with banana pups.
