You can plant it now in well drained soil and mulch it well, or you can try to overwinter it in a garage or similar place. You could also bury the pot in the ground, mulch over that, and then replant in spring. It won't need light during winter because there won't be any foliage. It will need to be watered sparingly a couple of times if it's not planted outside. It's number one enemy will be soggy soil, because that can make its roots rot.
