New to Tennessee

I recently moved here from Texas and have been offered the use of a shared plot of garden near Centerhill lake. Any tips on what veggies grow best in this area and what not to try??

RE: New to Tennessee

Welcome to Tennessee, Floyd! Things are kinda quite in this forum this time of year, but will pick up again in the spring. I wasn't sure where Center Hill Lake was until I googled it, but I see you are just a little east of the Nashville area. I'm not familiar with the specifics in that area, but, here in Knoxville, we can grow just about any kind of vegetable except maybe for something like artichokes (many of which need a longer growing season and a warmer climate). The one vegetable I haven't had much luck with is the tomato, but it's just that they don't like me. Many other people seem to be able to grow them just fine. Below is a link to a UT Ag. Ext. publication that will cover a lot of info about vegetable gardening here in TN.

I think we all love to hate tomato plants. We love the fruit, but growing them seem to be an art. I finally got some tomatoes this year, but not until October.
