Hey, There!

Zabby here. I posted here for a couple of years but have been away from GardenWeb for the last 6 or 8 months for a number of reasons. I've been getting antsy as tomato season approached, wondering how all the great tomato growers here were doing, and told myself I could take the time to check back in when my seeds were sown! That finally happened last week, late for my zone but better than nothing, and while my cotyledons bust open all over I finally get to come back and say hi.

THe first post I read was someone asking about low acid tomatoes, and I said to myself, Carolyn's gonna come right along and explain that they're all really pretty much the same acidity, and sho' nuff, there she was, and I felt all was right with the world. Then I read Bully & Earl's competition thread and cracked up.

So, hello again to anyone (if there is anyone!) who remembers me, and greetings to those who are knew. I have missed this forum and am glad to be back with tomatoheads.

Now, everyone please think good thoughts at my babies, 'cos they've got some catching up to do!

Cheers,

Zabby

Hello Zabby

I think I remember you. Where you over at the Havest section, with Linda Lou? If so, I have learned a lot from both of you, Amen!!

I have not been over to the Harvest Section for a long time. It's good to hear for you, and keep teaching us.

May your Tomaotes have a Happy Season.

P.S. you and Linda Lou are very Beautiful people, Amen!!

Love mrsjustice

Hi Zabby,

Just want to wish you a happy, healthy and productive growing season.

I have been hibernating, too, and I just began to return to obsessively following the tomato forum !!!

- Nancy

P.S. last year I was late in my seed starting and everything caught up and worked out fine.

RE: Hey, There!

Thanks, everyone!

Nancy, I really appreciate the encouraging words about the late start. And I know about the obsessiveness; I don't seem to be capable of the occasional check=in and post, but get rather sucked in in a big way to my several forums, so to focus on some other stuff I needed to for a while I had to quit fairly cold turkey. But now that growing season is back, I had to rejoin a community of folks who care about the same stuff! It helps so much. Happy growing to you, too.

Gary (who seems to have exactly the same climate as I do, on the 5/6 border --- I would have thought MO wd be more of a 6/7), thanks! No, not much changes, which is wonderful! The tomatoes keep growing.

Mrs. Justice, yes, we've spoken on the Harvest forum. Glad you are well. Linda Lou is a real expert over there; I have only been canning for a few years and learned a lot from that forum. Good luck with your tomatoes!

Hello again, Zabby!

I remember you, more from the SCM forum than this one, but it is good to see you again one way or the other. I've not been around here much either but just happened to check in and see your note.

So happy tomato season (homegrown tomato=happy) to you and welcome back.

Seedy

Hey Zabby!...welcome back! You are one of my favorite 'tomato' people! Always enjoyed hearing from you.

Haven't been around too much lately myself. Time to get the garden ready. Greenhouse is packed with plants again.

One of my best friends said a funny/true thing the other day..."it seems I spend my entire life waiting for a ripe tomato" LOL.

Glad to hear from ya kiddo...take care, Duane

RE: Hey, There!

Zabby,

Welcome back.

I have seen your posts in the main forum but haven't been over here in the chat section for a while.

Yeah, I'm still ranting on and on about acidity, BER and all my fave topics. LOL

As for me, still in the walker, two surgeries scheduled for this summer, the first on May 31 and there's a thread somewhere's here below that will catch you up to date on where things are at if you want to take a peek, and I'll update it right before I go for that first surgery.

While I'm away from my computer, which I will be for quite a while this summer, especially after the second one for spinal surgery, you and others here have my full permission to rant on my behalf. LOL

Hey there to you too Zabby,

Well I am at it again, 175 tomato plants under lights while I am in Toronto for the day..My kids birthdays are a day apart (and 5 years)so we are here with Birthday cake and a BBQ a bit cold. Back up to Penetanguishene tomorrow, can't leave my baby tomato plants for too long!! Good luck with your seedlings...martha/zucchini

RE: Hey, There!

Nice to hear from y'all!

Martha, I often think of you when I eat zucchini, believe it or not! ;-)

Duane, I been missing you too!

Cyn, good luck with your community garden --- I saw that thread. Sounds exciting!

Tom, my seedlings are so behind, they're gonna be transplanted as wee little ones this time. Cross your fingers for me!

And Carolyn, I read your update thread first thing when I logged back in. Sure hope the surgeries do you as much good as they possibly can!

I'll be honoured to chime in and rant about acidity while you're offline (especially since it often allows for talking about yellow tomatoes, my fave!). And you can sure add me to the list of people willing to help out your projects in any way I can if you like --- growing out a few varieties or whatever.

Nice to be back.

Zabby
