protecting seedlings from extreme weather

I recently planted young shoots ,the variety of which I dont know.
They are about 5-8 inches tall
We are expecting thunder storms in the area the next couple of days with day time temps up to 80 degrees
and night time temps dropping below 50 degrees
I secured the plants to 4 ft sticks and covered them with a transparent plastic bag with plenty of ventilation forming a tent. They are in planters with limited drainage and the roots have yet to matured. I dont want the soil to get water logged and cause the roots to rot, or expose the plants to severe conditions.
My question is, short of carrying them in and out of the yard ,is this advisable until the weather stablizes and the plants become mature enough to take the rain?

raja,

This is the off topic conversations area.

I think you meant to post your thread in the main Tomato Forum, link at the top of this page, b'c that's where all the chat about tomatoes happens and that's where you're going to get the most feedback on your post.
