Looks heavenly! Please tell me what it tastes like!

GYL,

I think I'm going to let a few ripen even more and try them again. It has a good taste but I expected much better. It’s probably just that early tomato thing. Each one I try gets better so that's encouraging.

Hillbilly

The only plant I bought this year. Picked it up at the last minute and I'm glad I did, it's very tasty. I'm going to have to compare my bi-colors all at the same time at some point. Not a lot of these on the plant but all are about this size. This is the first one.

Great yummy-looking fruit. Bruce, you will be pleased to hear I just bought about $3500 of new Nikon digital camera so I will fill flashing and macro-ing and more on the tomato front next season :)

Bruce, that sounds like a challenge to me!!! Grub, are you the one with the gorgeous tomato shots in front of the harbor, etc. I am afraid most (not all!) of the tomato shots here look pitiful compared to yours. Bruce and Roy have some great photos though. Did you see Roy's Tomato Contest shots on second page? Farkee

new Nikon digital camera

I'm envious! Can't wait to see the hi-res tomato pics in the dead of winter. I wonder though, will it be capturing more fish or more tomatoes?

RE: Some variety photos.

HI Farkee,
Yup, I went for the lifestyle angle last season but in technical terms Bruce gets my vote, at least till I scroll back to find Roy's entries in the tomato photo competition. I'll do that now.

Bruce,
You got it in one. I'm off to Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef soon and I haven't a professional photographer with me this time and, what is more, I'm not even fishing but penning a story about a bunch of fishin's chix. So I'll be taking photos, rubbing in sunscreen, massaging aching muscles, that kind of thing.

But, but I do look forward to shooting some new material with the maters. Better start working on my list. Keep 'em coming :)grub

Grub,

I know you'll just hate it. It's a job though and someone has to do it.

The Bloody Butcher.

The second box this season of BB. This one weighs 4 lbs.

RE: Momotaro and Odoriko

Momotaro tends to be slightly larger than Odoriko.

I like the taste of Momotaro better. They both taste similar at first. Odoriko then has a sweetness to it but not much following on after that. Momotaro isn't as sweet and has a nice lingering tomato taste. Very good!

RE: Basinga

Basinga is delicious and has a nice meaty texture. It has a good lingering tomato taste for a yellow. Pretty productive even though the plant has been struggling with the heat for several weeks now.

RE: 2 Bisigano #2s with a pile o' Opalkas

These 2 Bisiganos are a little more robust than the average one. Bisigano #2 is very meaty and red, Opalka is smaller, juicer and has more seeds. I think I like the tomato flavor of Opalka better but Bisigano makes a thicker, redder sauce. I like Bisigano better for fresh eating because of the texture. The 2 of them mixed with other tomatoes make an excellent tasting, thick sauce. I'll grow both again.

I'm going to try Heidi again with the two of these next season. Heidi wasn't very good for me last year in terms of production or flavor.

Bruce, what ended up being your favorite bicolor this year? I loved Burracker's.

Enjoyed looking at the pics again.

 o
RE: Some variety photos.

Hi Suze,

Burracker's was my favorite in 2004 but it struggled a bit this year. I'd say the best was Mortgage Lifter Pesta, followed by Lucky Cross. Georgia Streak was in the running too. Hillbilly didn't have much staying power once ripe, it turned to mush pretty quickly.

I must keep this gallery alive :)
