Reds are go... what is the big pleated red? It looks familiar. Thanks.

The pleated-looking ones are Beefsteak. It's hard to tell from the pic but the big ones are about 8 inches in diameter.

Thanks Geoff. But which beefsteak variety are they? Lol. Or is it one just called generically Beefsteak? Takes me back that mato...

Err, sorry, just generic Beefsteak from local nursery.

RE: Finally, a decent harvest

Oops, my bad. I re-checked this afternoon and it's actually "Beefmaster, VFN Large Beefsteak" - that's what's on the tag from the nursery. The plant has probably 8 monster beauties of this variety close to ripeness and I'm crossing my fingers that rats don't get these. They already have eaten half of my crop. I've probably got 12 mater plants and traps have been pre-baited and will be set tonite.

Thanks. Now that begs the question: any rates?

BTW: There are various slang words used for a meatpie Down Under but among my favourite is a Rat Coffin.
