I must admit I'm beginning to go into Carolyn's camp on the black tomatoes. I like them very much but I can't tell the difference between them. This tastes exactly like the Zigan (Gipsy) to me. As for productive, there are about 12 fruit but it's not in an optimal location so I don't think it was given a fair shot at it. It is a particularly attractive black, tho, I agree.

Nice to see what one looks like. I had a plant but it succumbed to diseases so early in the season, all I saw was a few greenies, and never had one near ripe to taste. Guess it did not like my conditions, the other produced very well. Good growing Maryanne in WMass

Barb, My Chernomor was looking very similar - very pretty tomato, I agree. Nice taste too. Was yours RL or PL? Mine was RL, but I believe ANdrey described it as PL... Interestingly, if I try to translate 'Chernomor', one of the possible translations (Cherno-mor) means 'Black Sea-Man'... Actually, 'Chernomor' is a name of a character in a famous Russian fairy tale, 'The Tale of Tsar Sultan' I think... Cheers,

Hi Tania Right, mine was a RL. Andrey told me his personal Chernomor was RL, too. So I don't know what it was really and what he was listing that was PL. I wasn't all that impressed with the taste here and certainly wouldn't exchange my Black Prince for it. The BP was outstanding early in the season, just delicious, so sweet! Yes Chernomor is the Lord Voldemort in a Russian tale, another character in the tale is Ruslan, also a tomato. And that's on my must grow list for next year. It's orange, extremely prolific and very hardy, one of the last to give up this season. I dehydrated many of them because I had so many I had no room in the freezer anymore! I like these Eastern European tomatoes a bunch! They seem to like it here. Maybe because it reminds them of home??? We're so like Siberia here! ;-) Barb
