I have three different patches of tomatoes. Each are showing this on the bottom 1 foot of the tomato plants. Its been really warm with average rain. Can anyone give me some advice? Its on Mototaro, Big Mama, Fresh Salsa, San Marzano, Azochya and Sun Gold.

Tommyc,
What you have there is perfectly normal, really. Some dieback and perhaps some Early Blight (EB) or some other foliar disease like Septoria Leaf Spot that can be kept at bay by spraying with Daconil, an antifungal with low toxicity, about once a week.

That said, many, many tommy growers cut the bottom branches and any that come in contact with the ground, plus use a thick mulch, so EB spores and suchlike living in the ground don't come in contact with the leaves. After cutting the branches and spraying you might even discover fresh sprouting from these lower regions and new growth and branches. But it's not a big deal and it shouldn't affect the rest of your harvest. :)grub

Thanks... I've seen it before, but never had a forum to ask what it was. Now I do.
