What OP tomato would copare to Better Boy growing in zone 5 at 7000 feet?

I have had fair results with BB would like an op. Is jet star an op?

Jet Star is a hybrid not an OP. But as a hybrid it is better than Better Boy IMO.

OP options are many, likely hundreds of choices. Consider Moskvich, Box car Willie, Sioux, Eva Purple Ball, Rutgers, Old Brooks, and Thessaloniki just to name a few.

I used to grow Thessaloniki years ago at 5500 ft. But last year at 7000 ft plus they were only so so - same as Rutgers. Maybe if I got afresh supply of seeds from another source it may help?. My season is short to say the least. ?

Then look at Clear Pink Early or Gregori's Altai.

Coming up on a drought year for me. Planting Moravsky Div as an early tomato per Carolyn137's recommendation. Moskvich might be another good choice. Maybe Cosmonaut Volkov, too.

Druzba and Eva Purple Ball are your best bets. You might also get Jagodka for an early determinate ping pong ball size tomato. It is exceptional for short season climates.

Maybe Dirtdig could answer this Q but I never heard of altitude as a factor in tomato variety selection. Are there certain varieties, OP or hybrid that perform better at higher altitudes? I can only think of a comment that Dr. John Clark, Blackberry plant breeder,Univ. of Ark, made a few days ago at a conference meeting referring to not remembering certain things: Could it be an overload of knowledge; a vast gaining of wisdom; or am I just losing my mind.

@ 7000 ft altitude, you have to be careful if you have high blood pressure. I don't know about tomatoes. LOL

Since wild tomatoes apparently originated in or around the Andes mountains in South America, I think it quite likely that they will do well at high altitudes.

I think the MAIN effect of high altitude on tomatoes is to shorten the growing season, since from a climate point of view, going UP is very comparable to going NORTH

Talking about BETTER BOY, I grew it some years ago. As I remember it was productive, early AND it was not very huge plant like some indterminants. Fruits size was about 2", as I recall. If the big boxes carry it this year . I will get one.
