| According to my friend’s suggestion, I've started growing tomatoes hydroponically and it works exceptionally well. I started with placing tomatoes seeds in a nursery tray with some ‘rock-wool’ as a medium. Before adding seeds to medium, I was told to adjust the pH range around 4.5; while putting the domes on the trays. As soon as they started sprouting, I had to place them under MH bulbs for 12 hour a day in the seedling stage. After few weeks, when the roots started protruding from bottom of tray; I transplanted the seedling into a pot filled with porous rock and connected to a drip-irrigation system. I change the nutrient solution every week and try to maintain the pH range between 5.8 & 6.3. I use some thermostats and fans to regulate the temperature. For staking, used some plastic ties that won’t damage the plant. In the pruning stage, I broke off the stem by hand rather than cutting it off. The important step is to wash out the salt buildup around the roots; during the change of nutrient solution. This system would certainly help anyone to grow the best hydroponic crop in a nutrient solution. Visit here for more Terrific Tomatoes grown Hydroponically or in Soil |
