I live in Edmonton Alberta. I can get away with planting my greenhouse anywhere from the third week of April to second week of May. I've had no problem with starting and growing tomato seedlings but they tend to get tall and spindly. I am using cheap growlux bulbs that were free and can't afford better lights and I think that is part of the problem. I also think I usually start them too early. Any suggestions when I should be starting from seed? I'm thinking next week to give them about 6 weeks. Does that sound about right?

6 weeks should be perfect. 65*nights/75*days

The grower can enjoy fresh tomatoes all year round, with the greenhouse gardening. But some commercial growers can earn higher profits in winter months; even when the tomatoes are out of season. If you really want some success in a ‘greenhouse tomatoes production’; then it depends on the number of factors including, soil, water, nutrients and temperature.
