| I must have missed that one, (Sacramento), but I buy my tomato plants from a gal in Southern Calif. Laurels Heirloom Tomatoes. She ships everywhere, including out of state. Try googling tomato plants along with your zip code or google tomato plants Northern California. Gary |

| I've seen a "Carla in Sac" post here but I don't know if she sells seedlings. |

| And There's Love Apple Farms where they have a plant sale in Scott's Valley, CA starting March 29th and also Tomatomania sells plants at various places in Southern CA.And I know there's also a plant sale at the Fullerton Arboretum in I think Long Beach. And Yes Laurel Garza does ship plants. but then there are many others not in CA who also ship plants if you're interested in making comparisons. So some Googling should find you some of the above places. And what about local places near you in Sacramento? I'm not all that familiar with where certain places in CA are, although I have been there, the last time to do a dog an pony show about heirloom tomatoes in Pasadena and also in Orange County. But I do know there's a chain of garden stores throughout CA that also sell plants locally, Selected Plants in Alabama owned by Fusion who posts here is a favorite of many for selection, price, packing and shipping costs. | The Fullerton Arboretum is actually at Cal State Fullerton Univ, in the city of Fullerton, (about 10 miles from Disneyland), in Orange County CA.~~~about 3 miles from my home. I used to buy there all the time , but the plants are usually very tiny, not hardened off, ~~~alto that is where I bought the plants, where I had my "Best Year" also the first year, I ever planted tomatoes. Also they do not ship, you have to go there and pick up the plants in person. According to "Selected Plants" Web-site, the do NOT, ship to California. Gary |

| .on the forum who sold tomato seedlings? Can anyone remember? Is she still doing it? Thanks! &&&&& I'm just remembering that Laurel Garza, mentioned above used to post here at GW, but there was a bit of a problem with something she wrote in answer to some who said her prices were too high, they didn't get plants in time to plant, and more, and I haven't seen her post here again. Perhaps it was a bad year for Laurel, whom I know well. Carolyn |

| Too bad Laurel does not post here anymore. I bought her tomato plants last year. The plants were really great, shipped on time and well packaged. So I ordered again from her, this year, and alto she did not have one of my fav tomatoes, (Giant Belgium), she specially grew one for me, and she will this year too, along with another one She does not stock, Virginia Sweets. Her prices are a bit more expensive, than some other sites, but If I buy just 2 big tomatoes (not plants, just the "round things"), at Stater Bros, (Super market), that is about the same price as one of her live plants~~~~and we all know what super mart maters are like??????~~~~~that's why we grow our own!!! Taking into account all the work you folks go to raising from Seed, Lighting, fans, heating~~~~etc etc, I think the work it saves me buying live plants is well worth the cost~~~~getting older and starting from seed, is just too much work for me, plus I want "Tomato Instant Gratification"!!! | > I've seen a "Carla in Sac" post here but I don't know if she sells seedlings. I think that's who it was. Sounds right. Apparently she's no longer doing it, then? Seems like we would have heard by now as most people here have had their tomatoes in for weeks. I seem to recall she lived right near me, so it would have been convenient to buy them from her. I have no interest in ordering seedlings that have to be shipped in. I may pass on tomatoes this year as I have to find varieties that won't fail on me, and all the nursery "heirlooms" are badly mongrelized stock anyway, at horrific prices ($4 for a 4" notional "heirloom" that won't bear a single fruit?). She had lots of varieties from good seeds. |
