ph tap water hydro

Hi im using a deep water culture hydro system for growing tomatoes.
my tap water comes out at ph 7.9 with a carbonat hardness of 5 and EC 110-120 ppm tested myself.
I was thinking about lowering my ph with citric acid to a ph like 6.8-7 first and then adding my nutrients to prevent possible reaction with the carbonate in my tap water.
I tested this and it came out to a ph of 6.0 with added nutrients.
What do u think about this methode ? Should i go the other way and add nutrients first and then lower the ph to 6.0 or is this maybe the better method ?
