Could my tomato plant have reseeded?

Last year we had a miracle tomato plant pop up in mid-late summer in our side yard. It grew full size and produced tons of large tomatoes until November (the tomatoes never fully ripened on the plant, but ripen nicely once picked and brought into the house.) It snowed on it and it still kept going until a very heavy snow killed it in mid November. Now there is what looks like another tomato plant growing in the same general area, but not the same spot exactly. The foliage seems to be right for a tomato plant. We have had frost including this week and it's still kicking. Is this even possible? Also, last year we had a ground cherry plant pop up in that area. No clue where that came from either. Will that come up again? I live in zone 6b.
