| My seedlings are growing indoors under fluorescent light at the moment. They are rapidly getting too big and I need to make space for their pepper brethren when I pot them up. Can I move my tomatoes to a heated greenhouse without hardening them off? |

| No you will first have to slowly get them adjusted to the new environment - primarily sun exposure, full spectrum sunlight, and the changes in ambient temps both day and night. At least you won't have to worry about wind. How long it will take all depends on how different the environment is. The sun exposure alone in a GH will be several times more intense than that from the lights and sunny days in a GH if not properly vented can easily exceed 20-30 degrees more heat and 20-30 degrees cooler than they have been used to. | Would the transition be easier if I put them under the greenhouse bench so they had filtered sunlight for a couple days? I'll be unable to move them between the greenhouse and their current location once I move them to the greenhouse. |

| Filtered light will help the transition. I use shade cloth over my seedlings once I take them outside. I can't carry them in and out like I used to do, so once they go outside, they stay there. Betsy |

| I usually move mine into an area that is shaded outside that gets about 2 hours sunlight and a slight breeze, the breeze will make their stems stronger over time. After about 2 weeks, I increase the sun exposure to 4 hours. Once they are about 8 inches tall, ready for planting. |
