They don't look well. By 5 weeks they should be growing upright and not sideways.

They should be bigger, but they don't look too bad. Whatever you do, when you transplant them, remove them from the peat cups.

Thanks for the advice! I was worried that they were a little small too. I'm not sure why they are growing so slowly. I forgot to add that I have fertilized with half strength (diluted to half the recommended strength) liquid miracle gro for transplants/seedlings.

OP, they look OK, but maybe a little leggy.

Seedlings and plants in general grow slower in cooler ambient temperature. From the size of your plants and purplish appearance, I suspect that they are in kept in cooler temperature. Another possibility is scarce nutrients OR the variety. Some varieties grow slower.

1/8 to 1/4 strength fertilizer max for seedlings. I have killed seedlings by overfertilizing. It can stunt and kill them.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I used peat pots back in the day, I must have gotten the bullet-proof kind, and the don't break down quick enough like they are supposed to and really inhibit growth. Just tear them off the root ball before you plant them. If you want, do an experiment and leave a peat pot on and see what happens. I think that most of the experienced growers will agree with me on this one.

I agree with Ed, don't like the peat pots. The other thing ii would do is to add some additional potting mix to the pots. They look leggy. Add the potting mix and dampen it.

Thanks for all the advice! I will hold on any further fertilizer for a little bit and then dilute it more.

I will definitely break up the peat pots. I have been keeping them in my dining room which is about 65 degrees but they are near my slider so maybe it is a little drafty.

I will try adding some more soil to them as well!

I have dug up peat pots a year later and they had not broken down. I could have re-used them.
