I bought a dozen young tomato plants - slicing tomato Early Girl. They look like vines. Do they need support?

Early Girl is an indeterminate tomato, which means it can get to more than 6 feet in height under ideal conditions. You can let them sprawl if you have the room and don't mind them being on the ground. (You can mulch under them to keep fruit off the soil.)

Most people prefer to cage, stake, or weave the indeterminate tomatoes. Just remember that indeterminates have a tendency to sneer at the cheap cages you get at the store. ;-)

You can find many threads here on the forum concerning supporting tomatoes.
