Somehow, I got it in my head that my plum/paste & cherry tomatoes were determinate. I wasn't planning on nearly enough trellis space. I have a 6ft chain-link fence about 40-50' long, full sun, access to both sides. Which of these varieties would do best using it as a trellis? I'm assuming the varieties with smaller fruit (cherries & plum), but I'm not familiar with the growth habit of the plants themselves (assuming that could make a difference?). Italian paste, opalka, black plum, blondkopfchen, black krim, black from tula, brandywine, cherokee purple, neves azorean red, & mortgage lifter. I'm also hoping to find a Sweet 100 locally.

Opalka, NAR, Mort. Lifter, Brandywine are all huge plants in my experience - easily 8'. Sweet 100 is even bigger - more like 10-12'.. Black Krim, Tula, and Cherokee are smaller plants IME and should do fine on a 6' fence. Never grown Black Plum or Italian Paste (several diferent varieties with that name) or Blondkopfchen. You might want to check out all the info on all of them on Tatiana's Tomatobase. Dave

I checked two sites which usually give heights: V = the big French database Ventmarin. Black Plum: Italian Paste: Blondkopfchen:

Thanks for the resources, I hadn't seen those yet. So it looks like Blondkopfchen, Black Plum, Black Krim, Tula & Cherokee are good ones to try along the fence. I'll try an Italian Paste there too (the seeds were a freebie from TomatoFest, just listed as "Italian Paste", figured I'd try them out).
