Is Big Girl still available?

I've grown 'Big Girl' for most of the last 25 years and liked it. I remember it even won a taste test at Horticulture magazine in the 1980's, I think. However, I haven't ordered anything from Burpee in years. I usually grow a couple dozen varieties from seed so I order from other suppliers.

Until this year, I could usually find 'Big Girl' seeds on Burpee racks at places like Home Depot or Wal-Mart. However, this year there were none on the racks here in the Roanoke, Virginia area. I've also noted that none of the greenhouse growers seem to have them either. When I've asked for it, they just point to their 'Early Girl' plants. I don't have a current Burpee catalog, but when I looked at their website they don't have 'Big Girl' listed there.

Does anyone know what happened to 'Big Girl'?

RE: Is Big Girl still available?

I may have found the answer to my own question. At the website of another company that lists 'Big Girl' it says "Crop failure - Not available for 2009".
