Bull Heart or Ox Heart tomatoes

I love Bull Heart tomatoes. Solid red meat, few seeds.
My problem is they tend to get soft on the side & rot.
I've used Maneb, liquid copper & wettable sulfur to control this problem.
Any advice would be appreciated.

| I am actually growing Bull's Heart tomatoes right now, that my family brought from Kazakhstan. At which point do the tomatoes rot for you? Are they still on the vine when they rot? You've gotten me a bit worried. |

| My grandfather had a farm, and he used to grow these from seeds he brought back from a trip to Australia. They are super delicious. He would never let them fully ripen on the vine, and I have taken to doing this also with mine. Try picking them when they are pink, and let them ripen on the windowsill. Maybe this will work for you. But, they are delicate. I really have to baby them, on the vine and off. |

I've tried picking them when pink. Some will still get rotten & stinky. I have four Oxheart plants and four Park Whopper plants. Sunday we picked all the large Oxhearts (over a bushel), wrapped in paper towels and stored. Hopefully some will ripen OK. Had the same problem with last falls crop. Would start to rot on the side. I tried picking when green and washing with a bleach solution. Still had problem. David |
