Should I cut back my tomato plant?

I have some tomato plants in containers. The Early Girl have long branches-not bushy at all. There are alot of yellow buds on the branches tho. Should I trim the plant now so it will get more bushy or just leave it alone? This is the first time I have tried tomatoes in a pot.

i would leave it alone. trim it if it becomes a problem.

Agree. Leave it alone. You are assuming that it will "become more bushy" if trimmed and that usually isn't the case since Early Girl is an indeterminate variety. If you want "bushy" plants you need to grow determinate varieties.

Wow! Didn't know that about determinate and indeterminate. Of course, I have all but one tomato plant that is right in the pots. They are producing, so will plant different types next year. Really appreciate the information!
