Tomato plants not growing

This is just a curious question from a new gardener. I have mountain pride tomatoes in the garden, 4 plants that aren't growing near as high as I expected. They have grown well, and are flowering. 2 of the 4 plants have even begin producing fruit. The tomatoes are new, green, and the size of a marble, but it's there. To compare, my neighbors plants (don't know the variety) are at least 50% taller, planted only 7-10 days before mine, and aren't producing any early fruit yet. I'm just wondering if I've missed something, left something out, or does my neighbor just have a much different variety of any than I do.

There is a ton of variation in growth habit across varieties...that may be the long and short of it. You could always ask your neighbor! Across the fence garden talk is an American institutuion. :)
