 o
Pink Keyser tomato??

Let me start by saying that I have never planted tomatoes before and I have the brownest thumb on Earth. I know nothing about tomatoes.

I was given 8 tomato plants in styrofoam cups which I just planted. They were labeled with these names:
Beefsteak
Kentucky Beefsteak
Rutger
Mountain Princess
Gold Medal
Flame Hillbilly
Dutchman
Pink Keyser

I was able to google and find out sizes and such for all but the Pink Keyser. Has anyone heard of this one?
Also, any tips you may have would be appreciated. I really don't want to kill these plants!

RE: Pink Keyser tomato??

ROSE Heirloom_78days_Indeterminate A large leafy vine producing deep, rose-pink, 3-inch, meaty globes
with a taste that rivals many other varieties. A cross between the Brandywine and Rutgers tomatoes. Seed
came from Dr. Grace Kaiser, MD in New Holland, PA who was given the seed from one of her Amish patients.

I couldn't find any variety named Pink Keyser or Keyser Pink but am wondering if perhaps what you have is the variety Rose since you're in PA and Dr. Kaiser, the source of the variety Rose is also from PA and Keyser could be a misspelling of Kaiser.

Just a guess but if I were you I'd ask the person who gave you the seeds where she or he got them from and try to track what you have backwards.

Just a quick note about the variety Flame Hillbilly. That isn't the correct name for that variety. The name is Hillbilly and I have no idea who added the word Flame to it in recent years.

I could go into the explanation of what Flame refers to, and not just one variety, but I think I'll not do that. LOL

So the variety is called Hillbilly.

Hope that helps.
