Tomato leaves are yellow

I have 4 tomato plants... 2 plumb and 2 cherry as well as cucumber, zucchini & bell pepper plants... I've been growing the same combination of plants for years without problems. However, this year the leaves on 2 of the tomatoes are yellow at the parts closest to the stems. All the other plants look healthy and are thriving. Any ideas?

Someone used a weed killer with glyphosate in it. Roundup seems to be the most common kind.

Affected by drift due to a breeze or spray turbulence.

@jean001a... Thanks for the reply... While it's not very likely at all that weed killer was sprayed within 50-75 feet of the garden, I suppose it is possible, But that brings up a couple of other questions... why were only 2 tomato plants affected? Why not the cucumber (smaller, younger plants) right next to them? And it's 1 plant in middle 1 plant on end, why not all? And more importantly... Are they going to be ok? Anything i can do to correct it?

These kind of remind me of verticillium or fusarium wilt.

Agree with jean - it's Roundup damage. Tomatoes are more susceptible than cukes I think. Don't know why those particular plants and not the others. But since the leaves don't look curled I'd leave them and see if they grow out of it.

hello Sorry to ask again but does my picture remind anyone of roundup damage. Thanks

Steve

Yes Steve, yours look the same - actually look like they got hit harder than OP's but still might recover.

My tomato plants did that one year and it seems to me I decided the ph was way out of whack which messed up the nutrient uptake. I honestly have never seen discoloration like that attributed to overdrift spray. I just thought it was limited to the strange curly little growing tips, rolled and leathery leaves. Live and learn I guess.

I've had some that needed fertilizing get light colored near the center of new growth like that but not *that* marked a difference between center and edge of leaf, and extended to tip of leaves not just a "burnt" spot in the middle (check out the largest leaf in center of Steve's photo). I've never had herbicide damage (knock on wood) but going by photos on extension office links like this that's what I'd say it is.

Here is a link that might be useful: Glycophosphate damage

Thanks AJ. That is quite a bit more dramatic then what I was dealing with but still, never knew it was one of the signs of herbicide damage.

Thanks ajsmama

They look harder hit because glyphosate has been sprayed directly onto the plants. I did suspect this but thank you very much for confirming it.

Steve
