I have several Roma tomato plants that have lots of flowers and a fair amount of fruit setting. For the most part they are pretty small when they start to ripen. How do I get them to grow bigger? At this rate I'm going to need a lot of tomatoes to make a pot of sauce!

How small is "pretty small?"
|
Very small, more like the size of grape tomatoes you buy in the grocery store.

Some possibilities in order of likelyhood: 1) you got mis-labeled plants, 2) there is a real nutrient imbalance in your feeding program, 3) they are in a container which is too small and the plant is root bound, 4) they are just the first few fruit and will get bigger as the plant itself grows. Need much more info on your growing set-up, plant age and size, and nutrient supply. A picture of the plant would help too. Dave

I know they aren't mis-labeled because I started them from seed. I just looked at the package and it says they are supposed to grow 2 oz tomatoes -- the ones I photographed each weighted in at 0.5 oz. I'm definitely thinking it's nutrient supply because I'm really not knowledgeable enough and I don't think I've been feeding enough. I used tomato tone when I transplanted and twice more, about every 3 weeks, although the tomatoes in the picture were picked before the 3rd application. Photos linked below. Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone!

That is what my Romas look like. I like their flavor for regular eating.
