tomato problems.. please help!!

So its my 2nd year of gardening, last year my dad helped a lot. This year he is too busy. I bought several different heirlooms, pear, cherokee purple, pinapple, german johnson, also planted a better boy. They had been looking good & growing fairly well, they were put out a little later than I would have liked. In the last 2 weeks I have noticed the leaves at the bottom of some of the plants looked bad. ie yellow, dry. dead. But its went from bad to worse. I have one tomato that is ripening & a couple more growing on the better boy but the plant itself looks absolutley scary. Very bare, a few green spots but mostly, overwhelmingly yellow. The pear isnt much better the entire bottom of plant is non existent. Some of my plants are okay so I assume it isnt too much water as we have had quite a bit of rain (more than usu) in the last few weeks. I posted a pic of what the leaves look like before they dry up & fall off. I realize this is long. Sorry. Please help save my maters!!
