Chocolate Cherry Tomato Pruning

Posted by VeggieEddie none (My Page) on

I am quite new to tomato growing and I am trying the Chocolate Cherry among others. Unlike the other varieties, which have one stem, my Chocolate Cherry plant has 3 or 4 large stems growing from the root in addition to the main stem. Is this normal for this variety or do these need to be cut. If cut should they be cut a little above ground to stop any disease getting into the cut ?
Many thanks

It is normal growth and does not need to be cut. You can, if you want to remove them. cut 1 or 2 off at or just above ground level but you will lose that fruit production. Your choice.
