Should I start spraying now?!?!?!

For whatever reason, certain varieties of tomatoes always end up coming down with some blight or fungus (dried up, crumbly leaves). I've increased the spacing in all directions to increase the airflow (4 ft. apart) but it hasn't made a difference.

I was intending to spray this year, but I haven't made the time so far, and now many of my plants look pretty bad. Lots of the lower leaves are dead, dry and crunchy. The upper leaves look find (so far).

My question is, is there anything to be gained by spraying the healthy leaves now? I realize the spray is preventative and it won't undo the dammage that is already there, but I'm wondering if it will keep the rest of the plant looking good? Or are the plants doomed since they are already infected?

Thanks!
