Big Plants No Tomatos

Hello All,

I have big beautiful Beefmaster tomato plants that are 70 days old. Lots of plant growth, lots of flowers, no tomatoes. Soil is good and balanced and I believe it self pollinates. Any thoughts on why no tomatoes?

Thanks.

Karl

Karl, is there any way for you to post a photo? Also how are you growing these, container/in ground?

The most common cause of what you describe is the use of excess nitrogen fertilizers. But as mentioned above much more detail on growing methods would be needed.

Do you have other varieties growing under the same condition ? If yes, how are they performing ?

I have one tomato plant (Pineapple, seeds from heirloom fruit), planted out about 75 days ago that is just flowering while the rest of my varieties have many fruits. So I think that variety makes a difference.

As stated earlier it may be too much nitrogen which will produce robust plants but few fruit. Also if the temperature is constantly very high it may reduce pollination. After 70 days there should be tomatoes forming.
