Are Hornworms a threat during the entire growing season?

Afternoon all,

Basically here in the city, the growing season is approx. April through October.
I'd imaging spring and early summer would be the prime season for them, but are hornworms a threat to our plants even beyond then. I found three at one time on one of my plants a few weeks ago and I've been diligently searching ever since. After a particular time frame does my searching have to be as intense?

Thanks and be well,
elliot

I have had hornworms up until frost. They often seem to come in waves but I pretty much search the entire season.

They have a cyclic lifecycle. How many cycles your have depends on where you are located but you can plot them for future reference with good note keeping.

Here I have 2 cycles - moths and eggs show up mid to late-May (20th +/- a day or 2). First hatch is a week later (early June). Those you don't kill will grow and pupate for 6 weeks total so the second round begins six weeks later early August.
