Hornworms on my peppers, not tomatoes (yet)

I guess my pepper plants are the early warning system...I saw the black frass first, then started to see leaf damage, then finally today I hunted down the culprits. Four hornworms, 2-3 inches long, on my sweet pepper plant, and 2 desperate fellas on my hot peppers. I can't imagine those taste nice. My tomatoes are in containers about 15 yards from the peppers, and no signs so far, but its only a matter of time perhaps.

I just thought it odd that they'd end up on the peppers first over the toms, but maybe my meager attempt at crop rotation helped. I didn't have a hornworm problem at my last home, so this is new to me.
