I was happy to pick a beautiful Brandywine tomato in July. Having heard that they take forever to ripen, I was somewhat surprised. She was about 5" across, the largest on the plant.

Mine are just starting to set! Hope to get a couple before frost...(set out the first week of June, and they just sat there with all the rain, I swear they didn't grow at all the first 2 weeks)

My Brandywine is loaded with big tomatoes, and will surely be blushing this week (I hope.)

This year June was cool central IN. Since plants went out in late April, many blossoms set fruit. I have one Brandywine plant that must have about 10 big tomatoes. We ate a couple already. This is going to be a "wow" tomato year. We already can't keep up.... I planted my first Brandy Master this year. It is not a potato leaf. It must have 30 (smaller) tomatoes on it. Picked 6 in one day.

Plants went out late April in zone 5? What did you use for frost protection? We had a couple frosts at the end of May here (and I had to use tarps and old sheets to cover my berries since they were blossoming). Even if I don't get a high tunnel built this year, I'm thinking I need to cover my tomatoes with a low tunnel just to get them out early in May (and then remove it when they hit the top).

I haven't tasted my Brandywine yet. We are having company for dinner Saturday and will likely use it in a salad. I saw heirlooms in a local store this morning selling at $5.00 per pound!

I also live in central Indiana and didnt plant out until the first week of May. Typical plant outs for my area are somewhere around May 15 through end of month. We had one frost in my area after my plant out. One of my Brandywines has put out several blooms....all but one of which dropped. I think there may now be another tomato on that plant. My other BW are doing just fine and the taste is great and have produced many tomatoes. I used 5 gal buckets as frost protection on mine during that cold night.
