Early Blight Symptoms

After extensive internet searching and comparing leaves, I think some of my tomatoes are showing signs of early blight.

The lower leaves of some plants are yellowing and have dark round spots on them... thankfully it is only effecting my heirloom tomatoes (6/24 plants).

I have snipped off the leaves that were being effective and went and bought a sulphur spray as a preventative measure. (I couldn't find anything with copper.)

If I don't have a blight is it still safe to use the spray? Should I spray the whole plant or just the effected leaves? Is spraying the top of the leaves sufficient or should I spray the underside as well? I read sulphur isn't as effective in warm weather, how often should I re-apply?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
