| Just discovered that most, if not all my tomatoes are covered in little black winged creatures, and some even smaller black moving dots. I assume these are black aphids and their children? I've battled aphids on chillies before, using a pine soap spray. But that was plants cut down for overwintering - spraying every bit of surface was possible. With the bushy tomatoes, I can't imagine being successful this way. 1) Will the aphids ruin my plants/crop, or can they still be healthy with some aphids around? |
Follow-Up Postings:

| If aphids, a harsh water spray to knock them off. Repeat as needed. But please post a picture so we can confirm your suspicions. |
|
| Sure, here are some pictures. From my phone, let me know if I need to break out a better camera to get a clearer shot.
This is the first plant I noticed the creatures on. It seems to be curling its leaves upwards. Not sure if its pest damage or nutrient related. None of the other tomatoes are doing it, and they all are in the same growing medium and pots.

| Definitely aphids. The plant looks stressed. Is it dry? Linda |

| Thanks! Yeah, it does look stressed. I thought it was because of the aphids, but I checked, and indeed, it was very dry. I've been so afraid of overwatering I may have overdone it. Gave it a good watering, and will give all the plants a good spray with the hose, hoping for the best. |
