It sounds to me that the plant you bought was not Juliet F1, for several reasons.

It sounds as if you were given the wrong seed or maybe they crossed with another variety. The Juliet that I grew were red. Perhaps it's a good thing that you have the wrong seed, as I found that Juliet tasted nasty!

Maybe your plant is Indigo Rose (a newer variety--last year?). They're purple & the bottoms turn red when ripening. I had to try one last year, because it sounded so cool. Taste was mediocre (to me)and the fruit took forever to get ripe (in my garden), but a very prolific plant. Are the fruits round? It seems like Juliet is more like a mini-roma shape (although I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)

I had Juliet few years ago. As Shemthewem, said fruits were like mini Roma, and the plant was very prolific.

Linda, it was said that the plant was bought so he wasn't given the wrong seed as you suggested above..

A mislabled plant? Probably.

Either the grower had the wrong seed or the plant was hit by the dreaded "label swappers!"

I hope that whatever it turns out to be is a tasty tomato!

I went nuts this year and planted a Black Russian tomato. It is loaded with very squat flat green tomatoes that are taking forever to turn black (well, really dark purple). I can't wait to try them. I'm looking forward to making grilled cheese sandwiches with Virginia ham and tomatoes. Of course if they are duds, I still have my old standbys growing back there (Box Car Willie)

Green tomatoes make the best fries. I remember a movie, many years ago, called , FRIED GREEN TOMATOES.
I have to try this some time.
