Fruits fusing to each other is actually fairly common and seems to be tied to the cooler air temps at pollination time. Sometimes careful examination of the blooms early on will show that 2-3 blooms are fused - a so-called mega bloom - and they result in the fused fruit appearance. It isn't limited to any one variety.

There are other possible contributing factors but the fruit is still edible and is usually only found with the early fruits of the season. Later season production is usually fine.

Yeah, noticed today that a lot of Black Krims forming are double like that, have some megablooms on other plants too (lows have been in the high 50's and 60's lately but we did have a 48-degree night a couple of weeks ago, still OK to eat just have to cut the double core out so a little more waste.

This fusing thing and catfacing are common early on in the season. Some varieties are more prone to it like, CP, BK, Brandywine (the ones I have experienced).

First CP I picked was a double bloom fruit and was big for that cultivar. It was my first ripe tomato...sweeter than I remembered that type being but good none the less. I have 17 of these and they all have done well. The neighbor behind my home is addicted to the Indian tomatoes and he is past 80 so I grew xtra plants just for him. One of his relatives is a missionary and took the seeds to Africa so I will be eager to hear about those.

The one year I grew CP, it seemed, like Seysonn said, more prone to fused flowers then a lot of the other tomatoes I've grown. No problem, just an extra big tomato for me ;).
