Growing Tomatoes

Broke off a branch- trying to replant?

Clumsy me, I was trying to tie my tomato plant to the cage and I broke off a large branch that had some small tomatoes on it. :*( Right now I put it in some water to keep it alive. If I plant the branch in some soil, will the plant be OK and will my baby tomatoes keep growing or is it a lost cause?

The tomatoes will most likely abort but cut the stem at a 45 degree angle just below a leaf node and cut the bottom leaves off if you want to root the cutting anyway. The roots will grow from the node and you could still get some production this fall. Keep soil moist not wet.
