Planting Out Extra Early?

Hey y'all,

So I live in central Texas and we've had a mild summer so far...it's only now getting hot. Typically people plant out tomatoes in early spring and try to get a harvest before the heat sets in early June. then again in july/august

So normally I see most of the information regarding planting out tomatoes has to do with the frost...I looked up in my ag extension and people are generally planting out tomatoes now until early-mid August..but my transplants are young.

I didn't learn all of this until recently, and I planted seeds about three weeks ago...so my question is:

Can I plant three-week old tomato seedling outside? No risk of frost obviously, just heat.

Can I begin to harden them off early to the heat? It's starting to get hot and I'm wondering if they adjust better as three-week old plants or six week old plants...but I also have to consider that I want tomatoes before the first frost around Nov. 27!

If you harden them off by introducing them to the heat gradually, I don't see a problem. Start with an hour or two per day and keep increasing the exposure to full sun. Then I would transplant after the sun goes down. Next day should not have any wilting if the roots are not disturbed. Good Luck!
