First time growing Stupice and am impressed. I have eaten probably 50 or so and have another 40 in the kitchen and this one plant has about 75 or so on it right now. My only complaint is their small handball size. The taste of them are really good, not the best but their production is remarkable. Started picking 75 days after putting them in raised bed.

Yes, Stupice has been an excellent early variety for many and if you like it you might consider also trying;

Matina
Bloody Butcher
Moravsky Div

But don't blame Stupice for the small fruits, since that's what its DNA is telling it to do.(smile)

I like it too.
I am growing Stupice, Matina, Bloody Butcherand a hybrid called Early Treat. They are all good producers . Yeah, the fruits are small. But that is ok with me . I get more of them instead.

I grew Stupice last year and wasn't impressed...sure they were early, but the flavour was mediocre. I think I'd prefer to wait for the better tasting ones to mature.

Donna, that;s why I gave up growing early ones quite a few years ago.

I no longer have that competitive nature that wants me to shout loudly and clearly that I have the first tomato of the season.

I'd much rather grow midseason ones and early late season ones that do have great tastes, at least for a lot of them depending on the season.

Many factors affect taste and the number one is personal preference.. The weather , sun and soil are are important REAL factors.
Fruits, in general, grown in sunny, less humid, less rainy, ideal temperatures taste better. Just an example : the grapes produce best wine in places like France, Italy, Spain and some parts of California. The same grape won't produce the same wine when grown in NY state.
Genetics is yet another determining factor.

The other thing is (in my opinion) that being early , mid or late has nothing to do with tomato's taste.

I'm growing the Stupice this year for the 1st time. I chose it because it was an early one. LOL with the weather we've been having this season it was about 2 weeks late. It is still producing for me even though temps here have now dropped into the low 50's each night. Mine is in a large container and is now 5'+ in height. It is still producing and as to the taste I do enjoy it. Taste is subjective as we know!
